Shirley Ann Rick, the daughter of John and Doris (Oberg) Johnson was born on May 22, 1940, in Litchfield. Shirley graduated from Litchfield High School in 1958 and continued her education in Minneapolis, graduating from Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in 1961. She was united in marriage to Donald Rick on December 28, 1962, at Covenant Church in Dassel because it was the biggest church available in the area. Shirley worked as a registered nurse at Swedish Hospital and later Litchfield Clinic until 1974 when she focused on her family and the farm. Shirley was an active member of First Baptist Church and later Cornerstone Church in Litchfield. She was known as a volunteer that could be counted on and donated her time to many groups, including Meeker County Fair, Red Cross, Peanut Butter and Milk Festival, Forest City Stockade, 4-H, Litchfield school board and vacation bible school. Shirley was good at knowing how people were connected; whether it was how they were related, where they lived, or where they worked. She liked driving and helping people; and with this combination Shirley provided countless miles and car rides to those that needed a ride to appointments, treatments or the Twin Cities. She enjoyed trips to the Minnesota State Fair, baking, cooking, traveling, maps and geography. Shirley is survived by her husband Donald Rick of Litchfield; children Paul (Michele) Rick of Deerfield, Wis., Ryan Rick of Litchfield and Ruth Rick of Crystal; grandchildren Aaron (Alicia) Rick, Elizabeth (Dave) Janus, Emma Rick, Zachary Rick and Olivia Rick; and her sister Marlene (Gary) Wilder of Litchfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Doris; and siblings Dean, Bonnie and Lee. Please sign our online guestbook at www. johnsonhagglund.com.
