Fred R. Ahlbrecht, 82, of Litchfield passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at his home in Litchfield. Memorial Service was held Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Hantge Funeral Chapel in Darwin with interment in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Clergy Officiating: Pastor Chik Chikeles; Special Music: “Dust On The Bible” by Kitty Wells, “Amazing Grace” by Chris Rupp; Urn Bearer: Ron Ahlbrecht Fred Ronald Ahlbrecht was born on April 11, 1942, at his Aunt Martha’s home on Lake Ripley in Litchfield.
He was the son of Ferdinand and Elise (Larsen) Ahlbrecht. Fred received his education in Litchfield and was a graduate of the Litchfield High School class of 1960. Fred entered active military service in the United States Air Force on September 26, 1960, and served his country at Rhein Main ABS, Germany, Philippines, Vietnam, and various stations around the U.S.A. He retired with an Honorable Discharge on September 30, 1980, at Patrick AFB, Fla., and had achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant with a number of meritorious awards. Fred resided in Litchfield. He was blessed with three children, Ron, Darin and Kendra. Fred was later employed at Litchfield United Methodist Church from which he retired again in 2001. Fred was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2818. Fred enjoyed traveling, going to high school basketball games, and watching sports, old westerns, polka, bluegrass, and old country gospel music. He especially enjoyed spending time with his extended family and friends. Blessed be his memory. Fred is survived by his children, Ron Ahlbrecht Jr. and his wife Kirsten of Spain, Darin Ahlbrecht and his wife Teresa of Sacramento, Calif., Kendra Ahlbrecht of Willits, Calif.; nine grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Elise Ahlbrecht; siblings, Margarite, MaryJane, Lila, Eunice; grandchildren, Josiah Ahlbrecht, David Amador. Fred wasn’t fond of cut flowers but enjoyed the outdoors. Instead of sending flowers, why not plant a tree?
