School Board members encourage continued review of security

Review of May lockdown incident prompts call for school staff to learn as much as possible Litchfield school officials continue to review the cause and response of the false alarm that caused evacuation of the middle school and high school last month. The false alarm, which initiated ALICE — Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuation — protocols brought police and other emergency personnel to the school complex May 16 and created “chaos” on the school grounds and deep concern among students, parents and others in the community.

Wastewater issues strain relationship between First District, city

Always tenuous, but most often publicly billed as collaborative, the relationship between the city and First District Association became strained shortly after the dairy processor’s expansion went on line two-plus years ago.

Lee Ann Francis Houselog, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on June 6, 2024, at Sophia House Cura in Willmar. She was bom on July 25, 1940, to Arnold and Adeline (Norberg) Heining and grew up on a farm north of Atwater. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church rural Atwater.
