Dorothy Ethel Goemer, 98, of Litchfield, formerly of Darwin, died Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Emmaus Place in Litchfield. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at United Methodist Church in Litchfield with Rev. Bill Kerr officiating. The interment will be held at Lake Ripley Cemetery following the service.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at United Methodist Church in Litchfield on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Dorothy Ethel (Walls) Goemer, the daughter of Walter Herman and Wilhelmina (Johnson) Walls, was born on December 14, 1926, in Darwin. She grew up in the Darwin area where she attended district schooling. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was a member of United Methodist Church in Litchfield at the time of her death.
On September 15, 1948, Dorothy was united in marriage to Wallace A.” “Bud” Goemer. They made their home on a farm in Darwin. Dorothy and Bud were both hard workers and worked together to both manage and do all the farm chores as a team. Together they celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Dorothy loved to play games and cards. She especially enjoyed bridge, five hundred, and pinochle. She enjoyed square dancing, fishing, and having fun with family and friends. She was a great cook and baker who enjoyed having large family get-togethers for holidays and special occasions. Dorothy and Bud spent many enjoyable winters in Arizona, Texas, California and Florida. Her family and friends will deeply miss Dorothy’s humor and spirit of adventure. She loved to laugh.
She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace “Bud” Goemer, her brother, Richard “Dick” Walls, and her parents, Walter, and Wilhelmina Walls.
