Renee Marlys Twardy, 63, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Her spirit, marked by unwavering strength and compassion, will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Visitation and burial services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Litchfield.
Visitation will be at Johnson-Haglund Funeral Home from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Burial following at 2:45 p.m. located at Ripley Cemetery.
Renee is survived by her devoted husband, Steven Harold Nordby; her beloved children, Daris Nordby and Tamara Ahl, along with her son-in-law, David Ahl III. She leaves behind a cherished family, including her siblings: Ricky (Jackie) Twardy, Russel (Nadine) Twardy, Randal (Cindi) Twardy, Rhonda (Scott) Abell, and Ronald (Stacy) Twardy. Additionally, she is survived by a multitude of adored nieces and nephews, as well as many relatives and friends who held a special place in her heart.
Born on April 14, 1962, in Buffalo to George and Marlys (Bechtold) Twardy, Renee dedicated her life to caring for others. Her early career choices reflected her nurturing spirit, as she worked in various roles that provided medical and general care to those in need. She spent many fulfilling years at Dassel Lakeside Generations, Wings Rehabilitation, and Prairie Senior Cottages, where her kindness and dedication made a lasting impact. Renee and Steven were united in marriage on October 12, 1985, at Litchfield’s First Lutheran Church. Together, they created a loving home, welcoming their son Daris on August 18, 1987, and their daughter Tamara on August 14, 1997. Renee had a profound appreciation for the beauty of nature, often finding joy in traveling, camping, and fishing. She was an avid motorsports fan, never missing a Sunday NASCAR race. Her creative talents shone through in her delicious baked goods and beautifully crocheted pieces, but her greatest gift was her ability to care for others. Renee’s humor, wisdom, and unconditional love will be deeply missed. Her remarkable strength, courage, and hope were evident throughout her battle with cancer, inspiring all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will be cherished for generations to come.
Renee is preceded in death by her beloved parents, George and Marlys Twardy; her brother, George Jr. Twardy; her nephew and niece, Adam and Ashley Twardy; her nephew, Lance Abell; and other cherished members of her extended family.
In honoring Renee’s memory, let us carry forward her spirit of compassion and love, ensuring that her legacy continues to shine brightly in our lives. She will be forever loved and missed.
