Making progress on wastewater

Progress appears underway in a monthslong standoff between the city of Litchfield and First District Association’s wastewater treatment plans. After a 2014 miscalculation by a wastewater engineer resulted in less-than-optimal outcomes when the city’s new wastewater treatment plant went online a few years ago, FDA proposed plans for its own pretreatment of effluent.

Sheriff: Man stabbed, hit by vehicle Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident involving a man found on the roadside Friday afternoon on 600th Avenue near 230th Street. Galen Serbus, 50, of Olivia was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital, then airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center with serious injuries.

20 YEARS AGO: NEWS FROM THE ISSUE OF JULY 8, 2004 The Meeker County Board approved joining in a foreclosing action against the Litchfield Woolen Mills as a result of the firm’s default on loan payments involving the Meeker County Economic Development Authority. According to EDA Director Joe Egge, Litchfield Woolen Mills owes $232,843 on its loan, provided jointly by the Meeker EDA, Mid-Minnesota Regional Development and Southwest Minnesota Foundation.
