Two celebrations are swiftly approaching: Fourth of July and Litchfield’s Watercade. Both are occasions to celebrate this part of the world! On the Saturday of Watercade weekend, July 13, the Friends of the Litchfield Library will join in the town celebration the way they usually do — hosting the Watercade book sale from 10 a.m.
Meeker County Board of Commissioners took action during its June 18 meeting on permits that had been forwarded from the Planning and Zoning committee. Among the action: • Approved a conditional use permit for property in the Clear Lake Shoreland District of Forest Prairie Township.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is taking applications for multiple Full-Time Correction Officers. Duties include booking and releasing inmates, monitoring cell areas for security, and administering to inmates’ needs. This position is a rotating shift schedule. Position requirements include but are not limited to keeping accurate records, maintaining composure in stressful situations, process sensitive information in a confidential manner. They marched through a busy week and walked off with a lot of hardware. Litchfield High School marching band claimed grand champion honors in two parades, along with a few other awards, as it appeared in four cities over three days last week.
It was a great night for music, marching and masses of people. Litchfield’s annual celebration of high school marching bands drew thousands to the city for the Parade of Bands June 11.
In 2023, Litchfield created a Housing Task Force to review the results of a comprehensive housing study and create an action plan to address local housing needs. Thisincludednewhousing development and rehabilitation of existing housing.
