A new outfit in town

If all goes well, a new business — Cedar Mills Outfitters — could make the small Meeker County town of Cedar Mills the next big tourist destination. That is the dream of Chad and Kata Dahlman, who live in the tiny-but-suddenly-vibrant community.

Bands’ music fills the air

Litchfield High School music department’s annual concert in the park avoided the rain and drew a large crowd Friday evening in Central Park. Less than an hour after a fast-moving storm dumped heavy rain on the city, the LHS bands entertained in front of the park bandstand, performing a variety of music from movie soundtracks to older classics and jazz arrangements, under the direction of band instructor Bailey Benoit.

LHS STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

Litchfield High School teachers selected Britney Valdez and Jacob Kadelbach as Students of the Week for May 20-26. Valdez, a sophomore, was nominated by science teacher Jason Louwagie, who praised her for coming to class with a great attitude every day.

Johnson announces another run for Meeker County District 3 seat

Meeker County Commissioner Paul M. Johnson announced last week he will seek another term as the District 3 representative on the Board of Commissioners. “Four years ago, you allowed me to serve you as your county commissioner, and I am proud of the progress and accomplishments made during my tenure,” Johnson said. “I have worked hard to serve your best interests and make Meeker County a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
